landscapes far from the hustle and bustle,
deep in the true Italian way of life. Superb food and
wines, friendly communities and excellent climate make
Piemonte the perfect choice for relocation, holiday
home rental opportunities and property investment.
The area is full of activity: skiing, exploring on
horseback or on foot, mountain biking or on a rented
Vespa motor scooter. Visit its world famous Barolo and Barberesco vineyards
and sample some of the best foods in the world in its
multitude of keenly priced restaurants. This makes it the perfect place for relocation!
What are the Best Parts of Piemonte?
Piemonte
is a large region (a ‘regione’
is similar to an English county or a US state). It literally means At the Foot of the Mountains. Piemonte is the
proper Italian spelling, piedmont is French..!
The outstanding areas are the Langhe, Monferrato and the Lakes (Maggiore
and Orta), as well as the skiing towns.
Other parts are less popular with foreign buyers.
-
The
Langhe
The name comes from the Latin for tongues (lingua)
as the hills jut out like tongues. The area is extraordinarily beautiful, the people are very
hospitable and friendly, eating out is cheap, wine is the highest quality, and houses
are still at very good prices. It is easy to reach having three major airports
close by. It is very calm and not overrun with
tourism. Germans and Swiss have been seeing its
value for years.
-
The
Monferrato
This is also an area that has very beautiful parts.
Sadly, there is a lot of industry that blights
some of the landscape. Its closer proximity to
Asti, Milan and Turin can make it more expensive
– though this is not always the case.
-
The Lakes
This area is not to everyone’s
taste. It is very nice but busy and
very expensive. We have an excellent working relationship with
the largest agency on the lakes, so anything you
need we can find.

In March 2008 Hollywood actor George Clooney gave an interview on Italian television. He talked about his life and home in Italy and his love for riding his motorcycle around the countryside.
In the RAI TV interview, he revealed that he loves to ride through the Langhe. He particularly loves the city of Cuneo.
He knows the region, living less than 2 hours away on lake Como. In 2006, his good friend Brad Pitt was searching for a home here under Mr. Clooney’s direction.
The Langhe has wonderful, well-maintained roads with incredible views on every turn. A pleasure to drive by motorbike or car! Visit the Alba information office for a free motorcycle map of the region. |

Education and Schools
As we have a son and have lived
here for 6 years we know well the workings of
the Piedmont education system. Our son was 6 years
old when we first came to Italy so went straight
into an Italian state school. We've found the
system excellent. Teachers are very caring and
bullying is very rare.
Our son learned Italian very quickly
and never complained. Give them 6 months and they
will achieve a very high standard - perfection
in one year.
Please do not hesitate to ask us any questions
you might have.
