Flying above Turin without an engine

My son is passionate about planes. At the moment he's studying one of Trevor Thom's technical flight manuals his grandmother had sent him. As it was the last weekend of the three month school holiday I wanted to do something special and a friend had mentioned that he'd bought a flight on a glider. I gave him a call to ask if he wanted to spend his ticket this weekend.
Saturday we were at the Turin Aero Club watching small planes coming and going pulling gliders with nervous passengers behind them. It was all a bit exciting.
We met the pilots. Really nice guys that clearly love being there and doing their job.
Alex did his flight. It wasn't the clearest of days but the thermals were good so it meant he got a long flight - around 35 minutes.
It was a great day out and costs only €60. It’s something really great about Piemonte – there’s such a huge variety of things to do, and it doesn’t have to cost a fortune.
Here’s some photos from the day..
