Alba
Province: Cuneo (CN)
Region: Piemonte, Italy
Population: 30,000
Altitude (metres): 172
A vibrant and wealthy town full of confidence. It is considered the main town of the Langhe and the Roero, famous for the production of Ferrero chocolate and even Tic Tacs!
Alba is one of the few smaller Italian towns where you can find the big designer names on the streets and is a bit of a shopper’s paradise. The main town is dominated by the pedestrian road of Vittorio Emanuele but don’t miss the chance to explore the little back streets full of interesting shops, restaurants and bars.
Visit on a Saturday morning and you’ll be greeted by the huge market. All the streets are lined with stalls selling items for half the price of the shops they’re pitched outside of! Here you can find everything – foods, wines, leather goods, clothing, shoes..
We love Alba. It’s a truly great Italian town in the heart of a beautiful province.
Specialities: Don’t miss the world famous White Truffle Festival that runs the whole of October. Then there are the many festivals and events celebrating wine, food and music all through the year.
