Buying property in Italy in the middle of a crisis

There are mixed views on wether or not now is a good time to buy a holiday house in Italy. Prices are low but could they drop much further, plummet? Although it's possible, it's very unlikely.
The first reason I say this is because Italians are very shrewd (Italy is the 10th biggest economy in the world, and for good reason). They don't burden themselves with debt so they probably aren't in so much trouble they must sell - that will keep most house prices from dropping into the silly scale.
Another reason.. I'll let you into a secret - many houses that are for sale are already rock-bottom but no one is advertising it - you just need to make an offer in the right way.
Some buyers, not all, are desperate to sell their homes but the Italian mind is a complex thing so you need to know the right way to go about making an offer. Get it wrong and they will not drop and everyone wastes their time. That's why you need us, Piemonte Property. We work with whoever can bring the houses and you don't pay us, you pay the agent then we negotiate a fee from them. So, it's not costing you any more than if you went directly to an agent who is unlikely to understand your needs as a foreign buyer - don't underestimate the importance of this, unless you thrive on stress.
Here's my advice
- Take the figures on our site as a guideline.
- Don't buy in the wrong areas.
- Make sure your negotiating is done by competent, experienced professionals.
- Come ready to buy - not 'thinking about it' without cash in your pocket.
