Special Piedmont

Inspiring landscapes far from the hustle and bustle, deep in the true Italian way of life. Superb food and wines, friendly communities and excellent climate make Piedmont the perfect choice for relocation, holiday home rental opportunities and property investment.

The area is full of activity: skiing, exploring on horseback or on foot, mountain biking or on a rented Vespa motor scooter. Visit its world famous Barolo and Barberesco vineyards and sample some of the best foods in the world in its multitude of keenly priced restaurants. This makes it the perfect place for relocation!

The best parts

Piedmont is a large regione (a ‘regione’ is similar to an English county or a US state). It literally means At the Foot of the Mountains. Piemonte is the Italian spelling, piedmont is used by the English speaking world.

The outstanding areas are the Langhe, Monferrato and the Lakes (Maggiore and Orta), as well as the skiing towns. Other parts are less popular with foreign buyers.

  • The Langhe - The name comes from the Latin for tongues (lingua) as the hills jut out like tongues. The area is extraordinarily beautiful, the people are very hospitable and friendly, eating out is cheap, wine is the highest quality, and houses are still at very good prices. It is easy to reach having three major airports close by. It is very calm and not overrun with tourism. Germans and Swiss have been seeing its value for years.
  • The Monferrato - This is also an area that has very beautiful parts. Its closer proximity to Asti, Milan and Turin can make it more expensive – though this is not always the case.
  • The Lakes - This area is also a beautiful area. Prices are higher than other parts of Piedmont but usually is a good investment.

How to get there

The regions of Langhe and Monferrato are well served by airports and public transport. In fact, the region of Piedmont probably has some of the best air links in Italy. If you're flying from other parts of Europe, the USA or the rest of the world there is sure to be an easy route.
